Chapter 136.
Crash
Ethan’s legs gave way, and he stumbled to the floor.
The glass shattered as it hit the ground.
“Ethan!”
His
s buddies, startled, jumped up to help him, but Henry stopped them.
He even started recording Ethan with his phone.
The guys looked from Ethan on the floor to Henry, who wore a mischievous smirk.
They weren’t sure who to listen to.
Even sprawled on the floor, Ethan showed no sign of sobering up. He just lay there, his hands resting limply on the sofa.
The smell of alcohol filled the room, making Ethan even more dazed.
He vaguely heard someone mention Sophia’s name.
He couldn’t quite make out what they were saying, but the name “Sophia” echoed in his mind.
Through the haze, he thought he saw her.
She stood in a corner, gazing at him with love in her eyes.
She held a thermos, and he could almost smell the familiar scent of her herbal tonic.
It was Sophia.
She was just like she had been for the past three years, always following him.
Always there, watching him with those adoring eyes.
If he turned around, she would be there.
If he drank too much, Sophia would be there with her carefully brewed tonic, waiting for him to finish drinking so she could soothe his stomach.
See, she was here again.
Ethan stared at the corner, a slow smile spreading across his face.
The emptiness he’d been feeling seemed to fill.
He knew it… Sophia couldn’t live without him.
He knew it… all this time, Sophia had been playing games, trying to get his attention.
Look, she was back now.
She was still
madly in love with him.
He hadn’t lost her after all.

Chapter 136
Ethan tried to push himself up, wanting to pull Sophia out of the shadows and into his arms.
But his strength failed him, his hands slipping weakly off the sofa
He staggered, rising and falling, rising and falling.
After a few tries, his buddies couldn’t watch anymore. They rushed over and helped him up.
“Henry, what’s going on with Ethan? Didn’t he hate that… uh. Sophia? Why is he calling out her name now?”
“And what about his girl?” another chimed in. “Don’t tell me Ethan’s having second thoughts and is going to ditch his current chick for… Sophia?”
The buddies helped Ethan onto the sofa, looking shocked and confused.
Henry toyed with his phone, a playful smirk on his lips. “You’re asking me a question even he doesn’t know the answer to. I have not a single clue.”
Resting his chin on his hand. Henry raised an eyebrow at the others. “How about we let him enlighten us himself?”
Henry’s smile sent shivers down their spines. They had a bad feeling.
“Actually, we’re not that curious…
They chuckled nervously, trying to back out.
Henry Reed rose slowly, still his usual cocky self, and sauntered toward Ethan.
He stopped in front of Ethan, looking down at the man slumped against the sofa, his usually sharp features flushed with
alcohol.
Henry reached out, placing his hand on the sofa beside Ethan.
A classic sofa–pin!
His buddies were stunned, jumping up in alarm. “Henry, what the hell are you doing?”
This this position, this vibe… things were heading in a weird direction!
They were both guys!
Could it be… Henry had those kinds of feelings for Ethan?!
Had they stumbled upon some huge secret?
Were they going to be silenced now?!
“Ethan, Henry called out, his lips still curved in that playful smirk. He seemed unfazed by the awkwardness of the pose.
Ethan, completely wasted, didn’t respond.
Henry picked up his phone, casually tapping on the screen. “If Sophia were here right now, what would you say to her?” “Sophia…”
Hearing Sophia’s name, Ethan reacted again.
He looked up blankly, his blurry eyes struggling to focus on Henry. “Sophia… where’s Sophia?”

“Right here”
Henry waved his phone, then grinned at his dumbfounded friends. “Guys, do me a favor and grab a video of this.
Sophia, mortified, sat with Andrew Yeats, trying to make conversation.
Andrew Yeats was thrilled, oblivious to any awkwardness. He stared at Sophia excitedly, peppering her with questions about her likes and dislikes.
His eyes were glued to her. The more he looked, the more he approved of his future granddaughter–in–law,
He even started to think his grandson wasn’t good enough for such an angelic girl.
Beautiful, kind, and talented.
Andrew Yeats beamed. “You know, you saved my life! I could tell by the way my grandson looked at you that something was up! And to think, you’re actually old Mr. Roscente’s.. ahem, I mean, you’re from the Roscente family. What are the odds!”
“You two are meant to be! How about we have the wedding this year? I checked the calendar, and three months from now is a great day. It’s a bit of a rush, but don’t worry, the Yeats family won’t skimp on the wedding!”
Andrew Yeats got more and more excited.
He went from wedding plans to baby talk
Sophia was speechless.
Wasn’t this all a bit too fast?
She’d only agreed to give Tristan a try yesterday.
And now they were talking marriage?
She hadn’t even had a chance to “try” Tristan yet!
“Andrew.
Tristan’s clear voice cut through his grandfather’s fantasies of great–grandchildren.
He placed a hand on Sophia’s shoulder, his hazel eyes looking calmly at his grandfather. “Sophia’s only twenty, she’s not even of age yet. Don’t scare her.”
