Chloe received a call from Gloria, informing her that Ethan had been drinking heavily, leading to a severe stomach episode and hospitalization. But before finishing his treatment, he had left the hospital and disappeared.
Gloria suspected Ethan had been drinking because of Chloe and assumed he was with her.
However, Chloe clarified that she hadn’t seen Ethan since leaving the Raffle Hotel.
That’s when Gloria started to panic, ordering Chloe to go find him in her usual condescending tone.
Chloe’s mother just sneered on the side.
But despite their strained relationship, the reality remained–if Ethan collapsed from stomach pain again, alone with no one to help him…
It would be very dangerous.
So Chloe immediately called Ethan’s usual group of friends, trying to track him down.
She could do nothing but ask around.
After making several calls, she finally got a response from Henry, who smirked and said, “Maybe he went to see Sophia.”
The moment Chloe heard that name, her heart sank.
She knew full well that a mere conflict between their mothers wouldn’t be enough to drive Ethan to heavy drinking, let alone to the point of collapsing.
So…
This was because of Sophia.
And now, seeing Ethan in this state, her suspicions were confirmed.
Her brows furrowed slightly, irritation flashing in her eyes.
When Ethan had first called her, she had been excited.
Especially when she heard his hoarse voice, thick with suppressed emotion–it made her heart race.
He had called her, alone, at this hour…
Chloe was not some innocent little girl.
She knew exactly what that implied.
She had been thrilled.
But just as she was about to end the call, she had overheard a police officer’s voice in the background.
Moments later, an officer had taken over the phone, instructing her to pick Ethan up at the traffic police station.
Ethan had been so drunk that he had far exceeded the legal limit for driving.
Chloe’s heart just plummeted.

Now, sitting beside him, her tear–filled eyes scanned his face, which was marred with bruises and covered in antiseptic.
She bit her lip before finally whispering, “Ethan… did Sophia do this to you?”
Her trembling fingers hesitated just before touching his bruised face.
But before she could make contact, she paused.
She lowered her eyes. “Ethan, if you really can’t let go of Sophia. I can bring her back. She can still be your fiancée.”
Her voice wavered, thick with unshed tears.
Her hand, which had hovered in the air between them, slowly retracted.
Ethan suddenly grabbed her wrist.
He opened his eyes, his brows furrowed in frustration as he stared at her. “No.”
His gaze burned with irritation and barely restrained anger. His voice was ice cold.
His grip clenched with the emotion.
A sharp red mark instantly bloomed on Chloe’s pale wrist.

She lowered her tear–stained eyelashes, her soft profile making her appear even more aggrieved and pitiful. “I… don’t want you to be unhappy.”
“When my mother and Mrs. Baker had their argument, I knew… that a marriage contract wouldn’t be enough for us to make it to the end. I know that my upbringing is something Mrs. Baker cannot accept…
“Perhaps, compared to me, Sophia is the one who is more suitable for you.”
A teardrop fell on the back of the man’s hand.
Ethan’s body stiffened slightly, and his gaze fixed on that teardrop.
A few seconds later.
He suddenly tightened his grip on Chloe’s wrist and pulled her into his arms.
“Sophia is nothing to me.”
”
Ethan held Chloe, his mind conjuring images of Sophia standing beside one man after another, her gaze cold and disgusted as she looked at him.
He clenched his eyes shut, suppressing the surging anger within
Sophia, huh.
Just a lapdog he had long since abandoned.
She means nothing.
If she wanted to perform, play games, or make a fuss, let her be
He had already given her a chance.
It was she who didn’t know how to cherish it.

From now on, even if Sophia knelt before him, begging to come back, she wouldn’t have the chance.
Does Sophia really think she is irreplaceable?
Does she really think that after three years, he can’t live without her?
She’s just a woman.
He can have as many women as he wants, whoever he wants!
When he opened his eyes again, Ethan’s eyes were filled with a cold, dark light.

He tightly held Chloe’s waist with his palm, and his long fingers playfully pinched her waist in an ambiguous manner.
“Chloe, take me to the hotel later.”
Chloe’s body went limp. Hearing this suggestive remark, a flash of joy crossed her eyes.
But when she looked at Ethan, her face flushed.
She lowered her head, shyly nodding.
Then, she hurriedly followed the traffic officer to handle the procedures for taking Ethan away.
Thirty minutes later.
Chloe dropped Ethan off at a nearby hotel.
Before she could get out of the car, Ethan had undone his seatbelt.
He leaned over to the driver’s seat, and kissed Chloe’s lips fiercely
Chloe struggled shyly for a moment, then just melted into his arms.

Sophia searched through a dozen kinds of herbs she used, stuffing them into a plastic bag before leaving the institute.
Hudson still had some data left to organize.
Moreover, Sophia didn’t want to repeat what happened last time when Gary drove her home, only to be noticed by her Andrew.
So Sophia decisively rejected Hudson’s offer to drive her home.
However, Hudson still took her to the city center and handed her the car keys.
Sophia looked at the keys handed to her. “What about you?”
“I have a small apartment nearby. And I need to organize some research equipment for the data. I’ll just take a sharing bike over there,” Hudson explained. The place was less than ten kilometers from the research institute, and sometimes, he would stay overnight there to analyze data.
Hudson went off to grab a bike and waved
to
Sophia.
Sophia watched as Hudson’s figure disappeared into the darknes before opening the car door to get in.
“Sophia?”

Suddenly, a surprised voice rang out.
Griffin and Felicity were standing at the entrance of a luxurious restaurant, frowning at her.
As Sophia looked up at them, a subtle change flickered across Felicity’s face.
Her eyes scanned the plastic bag in Sophia’s hand and the car next to her.

A trace of contempt flickered in her eyes. “Sophia, didn’t you latch onto Mr. Yeats? Why didn’t he send you a better car?”
