Renowned as the “golden hands” in the surgical field, the chief surgeon of the State Hospital’s department of surgery was a medical genius and a master on an international level, bringing much acclaim to his country.
“Miss Roscente, what-”
Mr. Cody was out of breath and full of excitement as he approached, but upon seeing Sophia pin Felicity to the car door, he was completely stunned.
Felicity, feeling utterly humiliated, flushed with embarrassment and began struggling in vain.
Because of Mr. Cody’s appearance.
With Mr. Cody’s arrival, Sophia cast a glance at him and eased up on her hold on Felicity,
The moment Felicity broke free, she instantly pulled away from the car door, yanking at her expensive designer dress.
Her face twisted with fury as she glared at Sophia’s serene expression. With gritted teeth, she grabbed her high–end designer handbag and hurled it at Sophia.
“You hittle bit**, I gave you that money out of pity. And you refuse it? You have no manners at all! Where’s your upbringing?”
Clearly, being pinned to the car door hadn’t sobered Felicity up.
In fact, with Zane’s appearance, she felt emboldened even more.
She wanted everyone around to see just how “lowly” Sophia was, trying to isolate her and put her in a vulnerable position.
Just as the handbag was about to soar through the air—
It was caught by a hand.
It was Mr. Cody.
The middle–aged man in the white coat, with an imposing expression and cold eyes, fixed Felicity with a chilling gaze.
“Upbringing?”
Zane’s voice was devoid of excitement. His face was now cold and authoritative, carrying the weight of a medical master.
He sneered, “Mrs. Stewart, aren’t you her mother?”
The strap the handbag tightened under his grip.
Felicity’s eyes followed the strap up, only to meet Zane’s icy stare
Her face went pale with shock.
A year ago, Margaret had been hospitalized at State Hospital due to a cardiovascular emergency. At the time, her condition was critical and required immediate surgery.
But even with money, it was impossible to secure an appointinet with Zane, whose schedule was booked months in advance.
Yet, to everyone’s surprise, just one day after Margaret was admited, Zane had personally arrived with his team.

He not only performed the surgery, but upgraded her ward to a VIP suite with a specialized team to take care of her.
Zane visited every day to check on her recovery, ensuring the best possible care.
Naturally, this meant that Zane knew Sophia, who had rushed back to the hospital to be with her grandmother.
And he was well aware of their relationship.
Now, Felicity, who kept yelling about Sophia’s lack of upbringing was exposing her own shortcomings as a mother.
As she realized this, her fingers tightened on her handbag strap.
Zane casually tossed her bag to the ground, glancing at the scattered bills that had fallen out.

From Felicity’s words and the sight of the few bills on the ground, Mr. Cody could already guess what had just happened.
The coldness in his eyes intensified.
Sophia was the founder of their research institute–the very soul of their work!
She was also a miracle of traditional medicine in the whole of Perino!
In the medical world, both traditional and modern, Sophia was revered like a goddess.
How could these scum dare to bully her?
“Griffin and Felicity really are generous, aren’t you? A few hundred bucks, and you’re handing it out like it’s nothing. From the way Felicity is acting, I’d think this was the entire Stewart family’s fortune.”
How could a few bills have them acting like this?
What they didn’t know was that, for Sophia, making a single pill could easily bring in millions.
Felicity was flushed with humiliation, her face twitching as she failed to understand why someone as accomplished as Mr. Cody–known internationally for his surgical expertise and gold–standard reputation in medicine–would defend Sophia.
She fumbled for words, trying to explain, “I just saw that after she left the Stewart family, her life… it’s been… it’s been…”
“Mr. Cody, you misunderstood,” Griffin quickly pulled his wife behind him, narrowing his eyes. A sharp glint flashed in his gaze as he glanced between Sophia and Mr. Cody.
He stepped forward, attempting to act familiar by placing a hand on Mr. Cody‘ shoulder. “I’m sure you’ve heard–Sophia isn’t actually from the Stewart family by blood. We never expected such a soap–opera situation to happen to us.”
When Mr. Cody referred to her as “Miss Roscente,” it was clear he knew that Sophia wasn’t related to the Stewarts.
Griffin continued with a smile, “Although she’s not our daughter, she’s been with us for twenty years. Not our own, but almost like our own. My wife is just concerned for her–worried that without the comforts of her former life, she might go down the wrong path. That’s why we’re trying to help her as much as we can.”
However, Griffin’s hand didn’t even get close to Mr. Cody before Mr. Cody shot him a look.
With a cold smirk, he said, “Don’t touch me. I’m insured, and if you hurt me, you’ll be paying for it!”
Griffin froze, his hand pausing in midair, caught between embarrassment and anger.
When Margaret was hospitalized, it was Mr. Cody‘ special treatment that brought all the business tycoons and family heads who usually ignored the Stewart family flocking to visit her. They all pretended to be close, eager to curry favor with Griffin.

Chapter 151
They all thought that since Mr. Cody–a world–renowned medical master who wasn’t easily swayed even by money–treated the Stewarts with such care, there must be some incredible secret behind the family.
At that time, Griffin had been on top of the world.
Although he didn’t understand why Mr. Cody had paid so much attention to Margaret, that special treatment certainly made his career soar, and he never thought to question it.
Griffin had always believed that the special care was because he was somewhat important.
But now…
Looking at Mr. Cody cold eyes, completely devoid of the warmth he had shown when Margaret was still around
Griffin felt a cold weight in his heart.
A sudden thought struck him-
Could it be that Mr. Cody had been treating them with such special attention because of Sophia?
No!
How’s that possible?!
Back then, Sophia had been nothing but a country bumpkin fresh from the countryside, only able to infiltrate Ethan’s circle because of the marriage agreement between the Stewart and the Baker families.
How could she have known the renowned Mr. Cody?
How could she have made him give the Stewart family such special treatment?
Griffin thought he was losing his mind.
However…
Just as he was drowning in thoughts of doubt…
Warm
Mr. Cody suddenly turned to Sophia, standing by the car, and his face broke into smile. “Miss Roscente, why didn’t you call me when you arrived? If Mr. Williams knew you were here, he’d be ecstatic.”
Mr. Cody, the top disciple of Owen, was the head surgeon at State Hospital institute.
A one of the researchers at the research
This area was the closest district to the institute, and so the researchers often came here to
Seeing the white–haired Owen in her mind, Sophia shook her head,
“Don’t tell him. He needs rest.”
If Owen knew she was at the institute, he’d probably jump out of bed and rush over
And that would be unnecessary.
“I know, I know,” Mr. Cody said with a knowing smile.
He was fully aware of Owen’s personality and his admiration for Sophia.
Every time Sophia showed up. Owen was the most excited one.

Mr. Cody‘ eyes fell on the red plastic bag Sophia was holding, which contained medicinal herbs. His eyes immediately lit up. “Oh! A new batch of herbs just came in at the institute. I heard it was from Mr. Yeats of the Yeats Group, specifically purchased as a gift for healing his grandfather.”
He glanced at the bag, his gaze hungry as he rubbed his hands together. “Miss Roscente, are you here to develop a new pill today?”
The researchers at the institute were all obsessed with medicine.
Every new pill Sophia developed was a revolution in the field of traditional medicine.
Seeing the herbs, Mr. Cody was practically glowing with excitement, eager to know what new medicine she was planning to develop.
He was extremely interested in the original medicinal materials that Sophia needed now.
Sophia glanced at Mr. Cody, who was clearly not acting like his usual composed self but like a kid in a candy store.
She tossed the plastic bag in his hands. “Just making a few health pills.”
Mr. Cody eagerly held the bag, sniffing it deeply, like it was the rarest treasure in the world.
Felicity watched him with wide eyes, astonished by how reverently he treated a simple bag of herbs.
Her curiosity and shock could hardly be contained.
“Mr. Cody, aren’t those just a bunch of ordinary weeds?”
Mr. Cody‘ expression turned cold, and he gave Felicity a disdainful glance before scoffing. “Weeds? You don’t know anything. These are treasures! They’re practically impossible to find on the market. They were provided by Mr. Ye…‘
“Zane.”
Sophia’s cool voice interrupted him.
Mr. Cody instantly stopped speaking, obediently.
