Owen held the backpack in a daze. He hadn’t recovered from the surprise of Sophia’s return before he was overwhelmed by the next surprise..
His eyes were red, full of tears. His hands trembled as he eagerly unzipped the backpack.
Upon seeing the ten or so bottles inside, his tearful eyes suddenly sparkled.
Holding the backpack as if it were a rare treasure, he looked at Sephia with tearful eyes and said excitedly, “Ms. Roscente, I thought… I thought you wouldn’t come back!”
“Oh, Professor Williams, pay attention to your image, okay? We’re at the entrance of the research institute, you know. If you cry like this, people might think our research institute is going out of business.” Hudson always acted informally, not watching his mouth even when speaking to a man over sixty–five
He nudged Owen gently.
Owen was afraid he might damage the precious items in his arms, so he immediately held onto the backpack with care.
“Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s get inside first. You can cry in your office.” Hudson put his hand around Owen’s shoulder and led him inside the research institute, winking at Sophia as he did.
Owen was a complete medical enthusiast. Every time he saw Sophia, he was amazed by the new pills she gave him, often to the point of tears.
Not to mention, he hadn’t seen Sophia for three whole years.
Sophia had given him so many new pills at once; and they were all new targets for the research institute.
Owen couldn’t stop the tears.
The renowned Professor Williams, also the president of the Traditional Medicine Association, crying there would easily lead outsiders to speculate.
After reaching Owen’s office, Sophia accepted his emotional, tear–filled appeal, and finally assured, patting her chest, that she would never leave the research institute for so long again as she did three years ago.
Only then did Owen let her go.
Holding a pile of new pills in his arms, Owen couldn’t wait to send them to the research room for sampling.
Then he grabbed Hudson, who was reluctant to part with Sophia to work. “Ms. Roscente, please stay here and have some coffee. I’ll be right back after the sampling. I have something important to discuss with you.”
Sophia was not in a hurry, so she stayed in the office waiting for him.
She sat there quietly for about ten minutes.
The office door was suddenly pushed open, and an overly sweet voice was heard, choking with rage. “Professor Williams, Mr. Yeats is really too much! For the sake of a liar who hasn’t even finished high school, he’s forcing our team to terminate the contract with him! Without the Yeats Family’s support, what should we…”

When the owner of the voice saw the face of the person sitting leisurely in the leather chair with a coffee cup, she was left with nothing but sharp shock. “It’s you?! Why are you here?”
Sophia raised a brow and saw Xenia standing at the office door, Her face streaked with tears.
At that moment, Xenia looked completely different from the image seen in the hospital.
Her delicate makeup was gone, her face was plain, and under her white coat were a long top and trousers. She was completely dressed in the standard attire of a female doctor.
Her not–so–large eyes were now wide open, her eyeballs slightly protruding, and she stared at Sophia in disbelief. “Why–why are you here sitting in Professor Williams‘ chair? Do you know what this place is?”
It was this bitch who caused her to be expelled from the State Hospital by Tristan, causing her team to become the laughingstock of major hospitals in just a few hours.
It was this bitch who completely ruined her medical career and… the dream she had of becoming Mrs. Yeats.
And this bitch was now sitting in the chair of the man she admired and respected the most.
That chair belonged to Professor Williams, the president of the Traditional Medicine Association and the founder of the pharmaceutical research institute in collaboration with Mr. Young.
‘How could Sophia, a bitch who hasn’t even finished high school, have the right to sit in such a chair?
No!
She doesn’t even have the credentials to be here at this research institute,‘ Xenia thought.
Her hatred for Sophia reached its peak when she saw her sitting in the chair she dared not even dream of.
Xenia was almost losing her mind, her face twisted as she strode to the desk piled with documents. Propping herself up on the desk and glaring at Sophia from a condescending position, she snapped, “You, stand up! This chair is not for someone like you to sit on!”
Her eyes were sharp, and she looked daggers at Sophia.
Sophia, holding a coffee cup, casually raised her eyebrows slightly.
She was clearly sitting, while Xenia was standing, glaring at her from a condescending position.
Yet with that glance of Sophia’s, her overwhelming aura of arrogance seemed to crush Xenia to the point where even her breathing became somewhat slow.
“Bang.”
The cup in Sophia’s hand landed on the table at an unhurried pace.
The coffee in it swayed, just like the mood swings Xenia was feeling right now.
“Where I sit is none of your business, Dr. Gomez.” Sophia’s voice was cool and indifferent, and her gaze, equally calm and steady, landed on Xenia. “But you barged into someone else’s office at will. Is this the rule taught by the so–called prestigious school you attended?”
Sophia’s gaze remained unchanged.

Her pride and self–esteem would never allow her to be intimidated in front of a wild country girl who hadn’t even finished high school.
Her eyes turned red, burning with intense anger. “None of my business? Do you know who I am? Professor Williams is my leader as well as my master! This is his research institute. How can I not have the right to question you?”
Her chest heaved violently, but when she mentioned Professor Williams, a proud look appeared on her face. “Sophia, I don’t care what method you used to sneak into this office, but I’m telling you, you’re done for!
This research institute is state–affiliated! This office contains so much information on various medicinal materials, and you, a wild country girl who hasn’t even finished high school, pretended to be a miracle–working doctor and sneaked into this office. I have every reason to suspect you are a spy trying to steal Perino’s data on traditional medicinal material!”
