Chapter 20
“Senously, what else could it be? As soon as the race ended, she got out of Y’s car. Clearly, they have something going on
“I mean, how could some fake heiress who grew up in the countryside possibly beat Y, the undisputed king of racing? Oh wait, now it all makes sense. She must’ve cozied up to Yand got him to throw the race!”
“Sophia, you’re really something. All this, just to win and get Ethan’s attention No trick is too low for you, huh?”
Chloe followers, emboldened by her expression, jumped in one after another, their exaggerated mockery adding fuel to the fire,
Sophia frowned slightly. What a bunch of loyal mutts Chloe had. Annoying as hell. But before she could respond, a sharp smack cut through the
noise.
Ethan’s palm landed squarely on the face of the nearest follower, “Shut your filthy mouth! Y’s driving is unmatched. If he’s racing, there’s no chance of him losing!”
The follower staggered, stunned, but before he could react. Ethan grabbed him by the collar, “Who the hell do you think you are to question Y’s
The key glare in Ethan’s eyes froze the follower in place. His face turned deathly pale, and he looked like he was about to burst into tears as he cast desperate glance at Chloe.
Elban’s fierce defense of Sophia, coupled with his words, was like a knife twisting in Chloe’s chest. Her lips pressed tightly together, and fury burned
within her.
Yet, she forced herself to keep up the pretense of calm, her voice laced with feigned innocence, “Ethan, you’ve got it all wrong. No one meant any harm. It’s just that none of us, not even the Stewart Family, knew Sophia could race, let alone that she was the racing legend L. Now that they see how amazing she is, it’s only natural for them to speculate”
Her excuses fell on deaf ears. Ethan didn’t even spare her a glance. Instead, after shoving the follower aside, his piercing gaze locked onto Sophia and stayed there, unwavering.
It was as if Chloe’s voice didn’t exist. Now all he could think of was Sophia.
His throat bobbed as he struggled to speak, and when he finally did, his voice was hoarse and strained, “You’re L’Why didn’t you tell me earlier! All this time… you knew […”
His jaw tightened, his expression caught between resentment and helplessness. Sophia knew how much he admired L, and that the reason he raced
was to wait for L’s return.
But she was L. Yet she never hinted at it. Why? Why didn’t the say anything!
Sophia laughed at the dazed, desperate look in his eyes, ‘Does it really matter if Fm 1
“It does! How could it not matter! Ethan shouted hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot. “If you’d told me earlier that you w
were L, if you’d just said it.”
His words suddenly trailed off. He stood there, momentarily stunned. His mouth moved, but he couldn’t finish the thought. If she had said it sooner, what would he have done?
Sophia looked at him with a mocking smile, “So what if I had told you earlier? If I had told you I’m L. would you have acknowledged me as your fiancée, even… married me?” The last two words rolled off her tongue with biting sarcasm.
Hearing the cold, mocking words from Sophia, Fahan’s heart sank heavily. He stared at her, his bloodshot eyes wide, completely frozen. His mouth moved. If… if Sophia had told him sooner, he really would have been willing to marry her.
“Heh,” A light, mocking scoff interrupted Ethan just as he was about to speak. Ethan looked at Sophia, his gue locked onto a pair of cold, sarcastic
Sophia looked at him with a mocking, scornful gaze, a faint smirk on her lips. Her voice was icy, “Don’t say what’s on your mind. It’ll just disgust
Ethan’s pupils contracted sharply, his body trembling slightly.
“I should thank you for your indifference these past three years, Sophia said casually, her smile cold. “It’s the only reason I was able to free myself
Her disgust and mockery were so glaring that Ethan almost lost his balance, stumbling back. Her words made it seem as if all the obsession, all the devotion she had given him over the past three years, had been forced upon her.

He shook his head desperately, mumbling. “No impossible! Sophia, you love me and you can’t love anyone else but me.”
His breathing was shaky, his wild demeanor making Chloe seethe with jealousy. She clung tightly to Ethan’s arm, afraid he’d pull away to grab Sophia’s hand
Surrounded by their friends, Chloe felt humiliated. Ethan was now acting as crazily obsessed with Sophia as she once had been with him. He even neglected Chloe, his real fiancée. How could Chloe not look like a fool!
Inside the white race car, Tristan lounged lazily against the seat, phone in hand. His dark, obsidian–like eyes remained fixed on Sophia.
Meanwhile, Sophia, clearly keeping her distance, hurriedly got out of the car.
Tristan’s lips curved into a faint smirk, his voice languid as he spoke, “What’s wrong?”
On the other end of the line, Gary felt a chill run down his spine. Even through the phone, he sat up straight in an instant.
Did he hear that right? Why on earth did usually icy Tristan sound amused! Was that an actual smile in his tone?
Gary was dumbfounded. He’d been calling persistently, only to be hung up on repeatedly. He had fully expected Tristan to finally answer with a cold, ruthless line like, “Gary, you’d better have something important to tell me. If not, you’re screwedr
But this gentle tone? 11 was terrifyingly out of character!
Gary’s voice wavered with disbelief, “Tristan, the information you gathered is correct. The miracle doctor we’ve been looking for has indeed shown up at The Abyss tonight”

Gary was so worried the doctor might
Tristan glanced out the window at Sophia being stopped by Ethan and his crew. His brow furrowed slightly, and a glimmer of icy disdain Bashed in his eyes.
Of course, he’d heard the gossip about Sophia, the Stewart Family’s fake heiress, shamelessly chasing after Ethan, the Wilson heir.
Watching Ethan attempt to grab Sophia, Tristan’s hand instinctively reached for the car door. His gaze turned cold, like a sudden winter chill.
But just as he was about to step out, he heard Sophia’s clear and languid voice laced with biting sarcasm, mocking Echan
Her sharp words and commanding presence, like a queen cowering over mere mortals, exuded a brilliance so dazzling it was impossible to look
Tristan’s hand moved away from the car door, and his long fingers tapped casually on his knee.
“Yeah, I already know,” With that, he hung up the phone.
Gary was left speechless. Wait, what? He already knew? What was the point of all the hours he spent digging into this then?
