Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Tristan flexed his slender fingers, their jade–like elegance glowing sofily under the city lights. His cool, pale skin caught the shimmer of the evening. “Need a hand?”
Sophia chuckled, the guarded wariness from earlier replaced by a subtle case, “You have already helped me, Mr. Yeats” She paused, her red lips curving into a faint smile, “Thank you”
She had to admit that Tristan’s move just now was pretty impressive.
A subtle smile deepened in Tristan’s eyes as his gaze flicked toward Ethan with a hint of amusement. So, giving that jerk a beating could score him some extra points in Sophia’s book!
Should’ve hit Ethan a little longer, maybe a bit harder. Would she have smiled even sweeter at him then?
A dangerous glint flickered in Tristan’s dark eyes as the thought crossed his mind.
Ethan suddenly felt an inexplicable chill, his back stiffening with unease.
The tension in the air weighed heavy on him as he swallowed nervously, his gaze locked on Sophia. She stood there, chatting with Tristan as if no one else existed.
Sophia knew Tristan? And they seemed really close, Was Tristan’s move earlier all for Sophia What exactly was the relationship between the twot
Ethan’s fists clenched tightly, his eyes darkening with jealousy. He wanted to march over and demand answers but froze, intimidated by Tristan’s mere presence.
“Ethan Chlor’s tearful voice trembled as she stared at him, her eyes rimmed red with frustration and anger.
She could clearly see the intense jealousy in Ethan’s eyes. It was a man’s jealousy toward another man.
Ethan’s feelings for Sophia weren’t simple; they carried an undeniable possessiveness.
Even during the last three years, when Ethan had treated Sophia with cold indifference, he had unknowingly marked her as his own.
Now that Sophia had revealed her identity as L., Ethan’s emotions were bound to grow even more complicated. Chloe couldn’t bear to face it.
Just moments ago. Ethan had pushed her his fiancée aside for Sophia, throwing her to the ground in front of everyone, as if she meant nothing.
The humiliation was unbearable. Chloe could already imagine becoming the laughingstock of high society tomorrow. She refused to let things spiral any further.
No matter what, she couldn’t let Ethan push her aside again.
“Ethan, please calm down,” Chlor leaned in close to Ethan’s car, lowering her voice “Sophia revealing she’s L right now isn’t just to make you lose control; it’s also a way to attract attention from others…”
Her voice trembled, her eyes filling with tears as the gazed at Sophia with a pitiful look, barely holding back sobs, “Sophia, I know everything you’re doing is just to take Ethan back. I know you’re angry with me, and you can do whatever you want to me, But please, don’t hurt Ethan. Don’t you know how much he admires 17
Tears streamed down her face as she spoke, her eyes filled with longing and regret as she cast one last lingering glance at Ethan.
Then, with a deep, almost painful sigh. Chloe released Ethan’s arm and spoke through choked sobs, Tm willing to step aside for Ethan. Please, don’t hurt him anymore
Ethan only really heard Chloe once she mentioned I.. Her voice sounded so fragile, almost as if she loved him to the point of obsession. In that moment, it felt like he was seeing the pleading, desperate gaze of Sophia from three years ago.
Instinctively. Ethan pulled Chlor into his arms. But as the scent of sweet, cloying perfume reached him, Ethan’s dazed expression slowly cleared
This wasn’t Sophia,
He had never been physically close to Sophis, but he knew she always had a faint, natural fragrance, as though it was just part of her being
Yer seeing Chloe’s delicate, sweet face, filled with love as she looked at him, Ethan couldn’t bring himself to push her away.

“This is between me and Sophia, stay out of it,” Ethan’s voice was hoarse, his face darkened. “She’s upset because she couldn’t get me, it has nothing to do with you”

But just like Chloe had said, devoted fans of someone as mysterious and powerful as L, the racing god, couldn’t possibly be limited to just h
Three years ago. L was the god of the whole racing world. Tristan helping Sophia now must be because of her identity as L
Three years ago, L. kept her identity so well–hidden. Ethan had spent millions trying and failed to uncover it. But now, it had been so easily exposed.
It wasn’t just to make him regret and go mad. Sophia also wanted to provoke him with other men and take her revenge.
Sophia’s tactics were becoming increasingly unpredictable, and it irritated him more than ever. The thought darkened
d Ethan’s gaze.
Sophia, however, didn’t even glance at him again, clearly unwilling to subject herself to his clingy, insipid gaze. The thought of it made her shudder, knowing it would haunt her in her sleep.
Sophia’s phone buzzed. She pulled it out to see a location sent by Sherry, along with a cheeky smiley face emoji
Sherry: [Honey, I’m already at your relebration party, so I won’t pick you up. Just come over with Y! I heard you’re the first one to ride shotgun with him. Lucky you!]
Sophia rolled her eyes. Was this what people called forcing the CP ship? Both parties were clearly awkward with the situation!
“Shall we go?” Tristan asked, noticing the change in Sophia’s expression and the way she shot him a side glance with an inscrutable look on her face.
He had a pretty good idea of who sent her the message and guessed it had something to do with him.
Sophia paused for a moment, then nodded, “Let’s go!
Tristan opened the car door, and just as Sophia was about to get in, he leaned slightly forward, raising his hand in a gentlemanly gesture to shield her head from hiring the door frame.
The close proximity made Sophia instantly aware of Tristan’s intense heat, his scent of fresh wood wrapping around her like a cloak
From Ethan’s angle, it looked as though the elegant, aloof man had opened his arms, drawing the stunningly beautiful girl into an embrace.
Perhaps it was the soft, gentle lighting of The Abyss, the usually indifferent Tristan gazed at Sophia with a hint of tender affection for the first time.
Ethan’s heart sank, as though something heavy had struck it.
“Sophia“” His voice was hoarse, filled with barely contained fury. His face darkened, and a simmering anger bubbled beneath his calm exterior.
Sophia paused for a moment as she bent to enter the car. Slowly, she lifted her gaze and glared at Ethan.
Ethan’s heart skipped a bear, his lips trembling slightly. For the first time, he felt the urge to give in and to admit that Sophia’s tactics had worked. that she had successfully gotten to him!
She should let go of her grudge and stop this childish game!
