Chapter 23
Sophia’s lips curved with a hint of icy sarcasm. Her indifferent gaze pierced through Ethan like she was watching a clown, “Mr. Baker, is seems Mass Stewart enjoys playing the role of a mistress and flaunting it wherever she goes. But even so, talking about another woman like that right in front of your fiancée? Frankly, it’s quite pathetic
Sophia’s mocking chuckle cut through the tension. She glanced at Chloe with that same disdainful look before turning away and stepping into the
The white race car roared to life, speeding off into the distance.
With Tristan behind the wheel. Ethan’s face turned ashen from the humiliation. He didn’t dare to make a scene or try to stop them, forced to watch as the white race car vanished from sight.
Chloe was equally infuriated by Sophia’s mocking words, her face draining of color.
A mistress? She was the true heiress of the Stewart family and Ethan’s rightful fiancée! If anyone was the shameless mistress, it was Sophia!
Knowing full well Ethan had a fancée, Sophia still had the audacity to reveal her identity at The Abyss, blatantly trying to seduce someone else’s husband!
Chloe clenched her slender fingers, forcing herself to suppress the anger that surged within her. Her voice trembled as she spoke, “I can tell Sophia really hates me.”
She let out a bitter laugh, lowering her tear–streaked lashes and biting her lip. But the more she hates and targets me, the more it shows how much she care about you, Ethan.”
She slowly raised her eyes, her gaze watery, a faint, forced smile on her lips. Her delicate face, as pure and fragile as porcelain, looked pitiful and sweet, drawing sympathy.
Normally, Ethan enjoyed Chloe’s adoration and attachment to him, but now that feeling had turned into a strange restlessness. He couldn’t help but picture Sophia’s cold, elegant face.
Sophia would never cry in front of him. No matter how deeply he hurt her, she would never show a trace of sadness in front of him, always keeping her emotions in check.
tears only
But Chloe was especially prone to crying. He had chosen her from the start because of her delicate and gentle nature. Yet now, her to deepened his sense of irritation.
His gaze darkened as he furrowed his brow, in a forceful move, he pulled Chloe into his embrace, pressing her head firmly against his chest.
“Stop overthinking. We’re already engaged, which means you’re the one I want,” he said in a low, steady voice, each word meant for both her and himself, leaving out the madnen he’d just exhibited in front of Sophia.
Chloe, of course, didn’t bring up the subject again. Hearing Fihan’s words, she was overcome with emotion, nuzzling his chest with a tender, affectionate gesture. I trust you, Ethan she murmured
The soft murmur of Chloe in his arms eased his icy expression.
This was how a woman should act around him.
He had been nice to Sophia earlier because of her L identity, and she had taken advantage of it, pushing her luck.
Sophia had clearly been pulling all these strings just to make him regret it. hadn’t she? And now, she was putting on an act in front of him.
She even getting into another man’s car right in front of his eyes. Was she trying to rile him up and make him jealous? Well, he was curious to see who would crack first.
“Ethan, you should go after her, Chloe said, sensing the shift in his mood. Seizing the opportunity, she tied her head, looking as if she was deeply concerned for him, “Sophia’s been using all sorts of tricks to catch your attention, even getting Mr. Years involved to play along. But Mr. Yeats is still
“And it has been so late now. Don’t let her do something unfaithful just to spite you”
Ethan’s expression darkened, his gaze turning cold and almost terrifying. He looked toward the direction the white race car had disappeared in his voice low and hard, “She’s made ber choice. Don’t bother with her!”
Sophia had always been the one clinging to him. There was no way he would be the one to crack first.

Meanwhile, Tristan sat in the car, his crimson lips curving slightly as he cast a casual glance at the rearview mirror. The retreating lights outside flickered and dimmed, gathering imo a faint, shadowy glow in his eyes.
His lary voice carried a teasing tone. “It seems like that Mr. Baker is still glaring at me.”
Sophia
lowered her head, typing a message to Sherry, her voice indifferent, “What an idiot, don’t mind him.”
Tristan’s eyes darkened, a hint of intensity in them. “Is that so! But I heard you pursuing him for three years?”
Meanwhile, Sherry sent a mischievous emoji and asked. “So,
an
o, how is it? Is the alone–time vibe nice? How are things going? Did you kiss yet!”
The last question left Sophia speechless. She absentmindedly replied to Tristan while texting back Sherry, I’m not dumb enough to fall for someone like that.”
Just bringing it up was embarrassingt
But the moment the words left her mouth, she froze, her fingers hovering over the phone screen as she quickly looked up
Then, the looked up and locked eyes with Tristan, his gaze shadowed with a faint, knowing unile.

Tristan had just subtly chosen the word “pursue“, but it was just a more flattering way of putting it
Preity much everyone in Virella knew that Sophia was Ethan’s obsessive follower, completely unreserved in her devotion.
No one would believe what she said. People would sooner believe pigs could fly than think Sophia didn’t like Exhan
Facing Tristan’s unreadable gaze, Sophia casually explained, “Let’s put it this way: Ethan is like a dungeon. I have to keep checking in, and eventually, it’s become this way”
Tristan’s eyes glinted with interest, “So, who gave you this dungeon?”
Sophia’s long lashes fluttered for a moment. She turned off her phone, eyes lowering, and fell silent. The air around her seemed to thicken, at though she’d touched on something too painful to speak about
Tristan Yeats’s deep, dark eyes flickered. He didn’t press further, instead, he shifted the conversation casually, You questioned my reasons for approaching you earlier. I’ll admit, I have my own motives,”
The last few words lingered in the air, low and husky, adding a layer of teasing undertone
Sophia feh her ears buzz slightly. She raised a hand to her ear, her lashes fluttering as she met his gaze, waiting for him to continue.
