Chapter 3
Darnell hesitated for a moment, then deepened the kiss by cradling the back of Nadia’s head.
“Darnell, be gentle, I’m afraid the child won’t be able to handle it…”
“Shut up, I had my limits.”
I didn’t dare to look at what happened next, and as I fled, the sound of their ears rubbing against each other kept ringing in my ears.
The heart felt like it was torn in half, causing excruciating pain.
The man who claimed to only love me and spoil me for the rest of his life met with other women behind my back.
As if an invisible hand fiercely slapped me in the face, a strong sense of shame almost engulfed me.
One’s legs went weak and they fell directly to the ground, in a clumsy and ridiculous posture.
The passing nurse hurried over to support me when she saw the situation. Seeing the tears on my face, she mistakenly thought that I had fallen and hurt myself. She quickly comforted me, saying, “Madam, please don’t cry. If Mr. Guzman sees you like this, he will be heartbroken.”
Seeing the worried expressions on the nurses‘ faces, I could no longer hold back my emotions and
burst into tears.
I cried until I was tired and then returned to my room to sleep. When I woke up, Darnell had not come back yet, but I saw Nadia standing at the foot of the bed with a gloomy face.
There was no trace of respect on her face as she looked at me disdainfully and mockingly said, “You saw what just happened, right? Darnell loves me, and I’m already carrying his child.”
I clenched my fist and trembled as I asked her, “How long were you together?”
Nadia extended three fingers upon hearing the words, proudly saying, “Three years, three years
ago,
he met me at a dinner party and fell in love with me at first sight. On the first day, he kept me up all night. After he went back, he felt guilty towards you and transferred all his assets to your name. Those things originally belonged to me and our child, but you took them away from us.
I clenched my lips tightly and managed to suppress the urge to hit her.
Nadia became even more outrageous when she saw this and said, “Do you think he loves you? Every
day after you fall asleep, he comes to find me. Even when I was pregnant, he refused to rest. I won’t hide it from you, on the day you had a miscarriage, he didn’t have any social engagements at all. Instead, he was having an affair with me in my bed. He can’t live without me now. If you have any sense, you should take the initiative to divorce him.”
Upon hearing these words, I recalled the day of my miscarriage. I fáinted several times due to the

hiense pain, and I almost lost my life due to excessive blood loss.
The doctor called Darnell ten times in a row, but he didn’t answer. In the end, he even turned off his phone.
The next day, after he came back, he knelt in front of my bed and kept saying that he had been socializing last night. He deeply.regretted not being able to come and see me in time. He kept slapping himself as a punishment.

When I was in excruciating pain, he was having a good time with another woman.
My only remaining hope was completely extinguished at this moment, leaving my heart as lifeless.
ashes.
Seeing my defeated look, Nadia became even more pleased and said, hands on her hips, “Tomorrow, Darnell will be hosting a wedding for me, even more grand than the one he hosted for you years ago. Remember to come and enjoy our wedding banquet!”
After speaking, she left with her chin held high, like a victorious mother hen.
As I watched her proud figure walking away, a sharp pain pierced through my chest, and the next second, everything went black and I fainted.
When I woke up, it was already the next morning. As soon as I looked up, I saw Darnell, with red eyes, standing by my side.
He hugged me tightly and choked, “Kyra, you finally woke up. You scared me to death just now.”
I flashed back to the scene I saw in the cluttered room, feeling nauseous, and pushed Darnell away.
