Chapter 9
Alberto rushed over and steadied me with his hands.
Due to inertia, his hand was grazed by the pebbles on the ground, causing it to bleed.
I quickly stood firm and kept my distance from him.
He looked at me excitedly, his gaze firmly locked on me, as if he was looking at a precious treasure that had been lost and found again. “Great, Frida, you’re fine. You’re alive, you’re doing well”
I had never seen Alberto in such a disheveled state before; he looked so worn out as if he would shatter with a touch.
Originally tall, after losing a lot of weight, he looked empty in his clothes.
His voice was hoarse as he kept repeating, “Frida, you were still alive, that’s great, that’s great.”
Lexie saw it and a flash of hatred passed through her eyes.
She sat down on the ground, her voice filled with sorrow, “Alberto, I also fell down and got hurt, please come and help me up.”
As he spoke, tears filled his face.
Alberto, however, ignored her completely and just kept looking at me.
Darnell rudely said to the two uninvited guests, “I’m sorry, today is the opening day of my Art Museum, and I didn’t send you an invitation. You are not welcome here, please leave.”
Lexie was still on the ground, almost choking, “Alberto, do you really not care about me anymore?
Look at me.”
Alberto turned around and glared at her, “Shut up! If it weren’t for you pestering me that day, Frida wouldn’t have been in danger!”
After speaking, he looked at me again, his eyes filled with the joy of regaining what was lost and the
intense remorse of pleading, “Frida, I was wrong, please come back home, I will change
everything.”
His eyes were filled with humility: “As long as you are willing to forgive me, whether you want to
start a construction company or build an Art Museum, I will fulfill your wishes.”
Lexie saw that no one was helping her, so she had to struggle to stand up on her own. She angrily shouted at Alberto, “Alberto, how dare you treat me like this! Didn’t you used to enjoy chasing after me before? Don’t you love me anymore?”
On the day I got married to Layton, you got me drunk. After I got pregnant, you built a shopping mall for me. Have you forgotten everything you did for me?“.
“Can’t you see, Frida has already found a new home?”
Darnell spoke up in a timely manner, “Enough! Please, both of you, stop making noise and never disturb Ms. Hensley’s life again.”

He turned back to me and said, “Frida, I know you still have me in your heart, don’t you?”
“Did you just want to provoke me by using him?”
“You can hit me, long as you can forgive me.”

Alberto suddenly thought of something and explained anxiously, “That blueprint, the blueprint you mentioned! It was Lexie who bribed the nanny to steal it!”
“Frida, I swear to God! I really didn’t give your drawings to her! Trust me!”
I felt bitter in my heart, but my tone was very calm: “Alberto, from the very beginning, you never loved me. Our marriage, from start to finish, was just a mistake.”
But he shook his head and looked at me with a determined expression. The next moment, he knelt down in front of me and said, “No, Frida, I was just tempted by her. It was my foolishness to think that I loved her.”
“When I heard about your accident, my heart almost stopped beating. I wished I could have died with you, Frida. It is you that I truly love!”
Darnell gestured towards the security personnel, and several burly men approached us.
Finding that no one paid any attention to her, Lexie suddenly went crazy and pulled out a prepared utility knife from her pocket, stabbing towards me. “Frida, since you like playing dead so much, why don’t you just die?!”
