Chapter 11
He combed his hair, changed into a nice outfit, and looked just as handsome and charming as before. But as he stood waiting in the hallway, there was an indescribable loneliness in his
appearance.
He saw me and his eyes lit up instantly: “Frida, you’re here!”
I asked him coldly, “How did you know I was here?”
He felt a bit embarrassed, extending his hand with a business card in it, saying, “The business card you dropped on the ground yesterday, it has the company address on it…”
My beloved, who used to be by my side day and night, suddenly became cautious. I felt a little
uncomfortable for a moment: “Let’s go to the nearby café first. It’s not good for my employees to
see us together before they start working.”
In the café, Alberto kept looking at me, and he didn’t drink much of his coffee, which had already
gone cold.
He pondered for a while before slowly speaking, “You seem to be in much better condition.”
“Frida, give me a chance to apologize. I didn’t cherish you properly before. Let me make it up to you, okay?”
“Since you disappeared, it feels like a part of me has also become empty,” he pointed to his chest, “I desperately searched in the area where you had an accident, everyone advised me to give up. Only
then did I realize how painful it is to lose you.‘
”
“I swear, before, I just thought I had feelings for Lexie and I was used to doing everything for her, paving the way for her, but that wasn’t love. I’m sorry, my foolishness hurt you.”
“I will change the names of those industries one by one. In the future, they will all be changed to
your name.”
I put down the coffee cup and said lightly, “It’s too late, Alberto.”
“Once upon a time, I washed my hands and made soup, willingly giving up my beloved career for you, becoming a proper and obedient Mrs. Mendoza. I was trapped in a small piece of land by your
false tenderness.”
“But now, I realize that the sea is vast for fish to leap, and the sky is high for birds to fly. What I want, has never been a title like someone’s wife.”
Alberto looked at me eagerly and said, “I could also give you shares in the company! I could invest in starting a new architectural design firm for you! Whatever you want, I can give it to you!”
Iturned my head and refused, “But I didn’t want it anymore. Even if I went back to Springmage, I
wouldn’t be with you.”

Tears welled up in Alberto’s eyes as he said, “Is it because of him? Whatever he can give you, give you, and even twice as much!”
I pulled out a smile and said, “He let me choose freely, can you?”
“Sorry, times have changed, and now, I no longer love you.”
Alberto froze and remained silent for a while. He lowered his head in despair, resembling a child who had done something wrong, and his voice was so low that it was almost inaudible: “I’m sorry. I won’t bother you anymore in the future.”
It seemed like a flash of water shimmered by.
Afterwards, he got up and left.
Not long after, I saw the news that Lexie was officially arrested for intentionally hurting someone and sentenced to 3 years in prison. Both the Shannon family and the McBride family were afraid that this scandal would affect the company’s stock price, so they didn’t want to acknowledge her. In the end, there wasn’t even anyone who went to visit her in prison.
It was almost New Year, and Star Art Museum was decorated in a lively and festive manner.
The museum welcomed batch after batch of children.
The phone vibrated for a moment.
I opened my phone and received a bank message: “The Star Children Foundation has credited 3 million.”
And the note was sorry.
I didn’t reply. Fiona handed me a cup of coffee and winked at me, saying, “Ms. Hensley, I heard you agreed to have dinner at my house with my uncle! Does that mean you’re gonna be my aunt–in–law soon?”
I looked up and saw Darnell playing Go with a little girl not far away.
He saw me, gave a slight smile, and then lowered his head to play chess seriously with the child
The wind blew, and the wind chimes on the wall jingled.
I walked towards Darnell.
