Chapter 14
“am the party involved, why didn’t you personally interview me!” Colt exclaimed angrily, his eyes bloodshot. “How can you be a lawyer? You don’t even have this basic knowledge!”
The lawyer was taken aback by him, “Mr. Nolan, please calm down. Let me take a look.”
The lawyer glanced through the documents, looked up at Colt, and his voice trembled, “Mr. Nolan, since you were the first to sign the documents and the property division is clear, there is no need to contact you again in terms of the procedure.”
“I disagreed with the divorce!” Colt crumpled the divorce certificate. “Where is my wife? I want to
meet her.”
“Sorry, I didn’t know,” the lawyer shook his head.
Colt grabbed his collar, his emotions out of control, and punched him hard, “Tell me, where is my
wife!”
“Mr. Nolan, professional ethics prevent me from speaking,” the lawyer’s nose and mouth were bleeding, and his glasses were shattered, “but, but I can try to convey your message to her.”
“Give me her contact information.”
“Mr. Nolan, even if you killed me, I couldn’t give it to you. Whatever you want to say, I will help you
convey it.‘
Colt compromised and edited a lengthy text to be sent by the lawyer to Cindy.
Cindy saw the message and was somewhat startled.
She never thought Colt would find her again, let alone apologize to her.
The text is full of Colt’s remorse.
“Cindy, Emilie, I was wrong. I always thought that I could do without you, but the truth is, I couldn’t
live without you at all.”
“Cindy, there was nothing between Hazel and me. I thought I still loved her, but I had unknowingly fallen in love with you a long time ago.”
“Give me a chance to make up for the harm I caused to you all. I would be a good husband and a good father.”
,“Where were you? I missed you a lot.”
Cindy unconsciously moistened her eyes and tightly held onto her phone.
Emilie walked over with her freshly painted picture and saw Cindy crying. She raised her hand to
wipe away Cindy’s tears.

“Mom, what happened to you?”
Cindy sniffed and handed her phone to Emilie, “How much can you understand?”
Emilie stared at the words on the screen, her eyes sparkling and soon becoming teary.
“Is it from Uncle?” she looked at Cindy, “Is it true that Uncle said he missed us? Is it true that Uncle said he would be a good father to me?”
Cindy shook her head, she didn’t know.
“It can’t be true,” Emilie lowered her gaze, feeling utterly disappointed in Colt. “The person he likes is right beside him.”
Cindy deleted the information and held Emilie in her arms, “Shall we pretend we didn’t see anything and continue living happily?”
Emilie nodded and picked up the painting again to explain its meaning to Cindy.
Neither the mother nor the daughter took Colt’s confession to heart, and they had no idea that he had been waiting for their reply. Because they were afraid of missing any news, they didn’t even
dare to sleep.
The message was sent three days ago, and there is still no reply.
Colt dragged his weary body to find a lawyer.
“Mr. Nolan, I’m sorry, but my client has stated that they will not respond and do not wish to receive any further messages from you. I’m sorry, but I can’t help you.”
Colt had been unable to sleep for more than three hours for several consecutive days, looking exhausted with his crimson eyes looking extremely terrifying.
He took out a check and filled in the name, “Tell me where she is and how much she wants, fill it in
yourself.”
The lawyer hesitated and pushed his glasses up. “I only have Ms. Benton’s contact information, not
her address.”
“Okay.” Colt threw the check to the lawyer and immediately called Cindy.
“Hello?”
Cindy answered the phone, and Colt was too nervous to speak.
He tried to speak several times, but couldn’t make a sound.
“Mom, who is it?” Emilie’s voice came through the phone, and Colt’s eyes turned red.
“I don’t know who the domestic call is from,” Cindy greeted again, “Hello, is there something I can

help with?”
“Eindy…” “Colt began, but Cindy’s hand trembled and she hung up the phone directly.
The phone rang again, but Cindy did not answer.
Emilie looked at Cindy, then looked at her phone, and cautiously asked, “Mom, is it Uncle?”
“Um.” Cindy didn’t lie, “Does Emilie want to pick it up?”
Emilie shook her head.
Cindy hung up the phone and then blocked.
Colt tried calling several times, but Cindy hung up and blocked him every time.
The text message he sent also sank like a stone. It was so painful that it had been read but not replied to.
Colt stared at his phone and forced a bitter smile. He used to be a jerk, and all this pain was
well–deserved.
He finally realized that he had truly lost Cindy and Emilie.
From that day on, Colt did not go to the company.
He sat in Cindy’s room every day, staring at the teddy bear left by Emilie.
Emilie left a note in the teddy bear, hoping that Colt would let her call him dad and hug her every
day.
He regretted not doing it earlier and suffered both physically and mentally.
The secretary found the villa and was startled by his appearance. “Mr. Nolan, the company had a problem.”
The secretary, without caring about him, said directly, “Someone leaked the company’s secrets and the cooperation was intercepted.”
Colt remained unchanged, looking blankly at the secretary, “You can handle it.”
“Mr. Nolan, billions of dollars project… the company would collapse.”
“If the company collapsed, how would you provide a comfortable life for your wife and daughter…”
,Colt reacted and looked up at the secretary, “Did you find them?”
“I believe they will come back,” the secretary said nervously, as he had been searching for Cindy’s whereabouts all along but had found nothing.
When she left initially, she bought tickets for many different places, making it impossible to figure

out which flight she actually took.
“You’re right, we should make their lives better,” Colt’s eyes regained their brightness. “Let’s go back to the company.”
