Chapter 16
Sorry, it’s my turn to go on stage,” Cindy didn’t answer and walked past him to the stage.
As a representative of the company, Cindy introduced the company’s new products. She was confident and graceful, with appropriate gestures, delivering a professional and skilled presentation.
Colt looked at her shining brightly and regretted deeply. It turned out she was so dazzling.
His long–silent heart pounded fiercely, his gaze never willing to move away from Cindy even for a
moment.
He would not give up, he was determined to win back his wife and daughter.
“Thank you, everyone. If there is anything you don’t understand, you can ask me privately,” Cindy concluded her introduction and bowed before stepping down from the stage.
Emilie ran over to her from the side and greeted the person who came with Emilie.
Colt stood silently on the side, afraid to approach, until only Cindy and Emilie were left in front of him, and then he mustered up the courage to walk up.
“Your speech was great, you must be thirsty.” Colt handed Cindy a drink, “Freshly made, clean.‘
Cindy felt a tightness in her chest. Instead of answering, she went around him.
“Cindy, Emilie, can you have a meal with me?” Colt inexplicably nervous, called out to them.
“Sorry, not convenient.” Cindy didn’t turn around.
“Cindy, don’t reject me, please.” Colt followed and grabbed Cindy’s arm, his eyes filled with longing.
“Emilie, would you like to go home and have dinner with Dad? Just this once, okay?” He looked at Emilie again, with an expression he had never shown before. “Dad really knows he was wrong, you have a meal with Dad…”
Emilie hesitated.
She knew the pain of being rejected.
She looked up at Cindy and said reluctantly, “Mom, let’s just have one meal.”
“Okay.” Cindy would never refuse Emilie, she was Colt’s daughter, and she could acknowledge this father whenever she wanted.
Folt laughed and extended his hand towards Emilie, “Come home with Daddy.”
Emilie did not respond, Colt’s smile froze on his face, but he was not annoyed. “Let’s go.”

Cindy and Emilie sat in the back seat, while Colt drove the car. Through the rearview mirror, he saw them, mother and daughter, and felt an inexplicable sense of peace, causing a smile to appear on
his face.
Emilie hid in Cindy’s arms and whispered, “Mom, how did Uncle change?”
“I didn’t know.”
“Was he really apologizing to us?”
Cindy still shook her head, she also didn’t know what Colt wanted to do.
Late affection is cheaper than grass.
Even if he truly repented, there would still be no possibility between them.
Not to mention Hazel and her son.
She didn’t believe Colt would let go of Hazel.
It was just a meal, it wouldn’t change their relationship.
Colt took them back to the villa, and the layout of the villa remained the same as it was back then.
“Emilie, this it and see if you like it or not.
s just a birthday present that Dad got for you,
Every day, Colt would buy Emilie a gift, and the large living room was filled with piles of gift boxes.
“Can I dismantle it?”
“Of course, they were all gifts from your father,” Colt replied, feeling stung by Emilie’s careful questioning. What had he done to the child before?
“Emilie, I’m sorry. I was wrong before, but from now on, you can do whatever you want, and Dad will be there with you.”
Colt crouched down, Emilie didn’t hide, he trembled as he held Emilie in his arms.
“Dad will accompany you and treat you well in the future.”
Emilie looked up in Colt’s arms, her eyes filled with a hint of happiness.
She was just a six–year–old child, and paternal love was something she had always longed for but could never have.
Now in Colt’s arms, she felt the love of a father.
Seeing her happy expression, Cindy also smiled.
She hoped that Colt could continue pretending and not disappoint Emilie anymore.
“You open the gift first, Dad will go make food for you.”
Colt brought Emilie to the front of the gift, then walked into the kitchen and put on an apron.
Cindy’s heart suddenly shook, that apron, it was the one she had always used.
