Emilie held the doll and pretended not to hear.
“Mom, let’s go.”
“I sent you.”
Cindy refused, “No need, we called a taxi ourselves.”
Colt did not insist and watched them leave.
The next morning, Colt appeared in the hotel lobby, holding flowers and pastries, waiting for Cindy and Emilie.
“Morning, are you free today? Let’s go out for a meal.”
“Sorry, I’m busy,” Cindy declined, pulling Emilie along. Colt, still not insisting, just stood in place, watching their backs.
He knew very well in his heart that Cindy would not easily forgive him.
Colt did not get discouraged, nor did he give up.
He went to Cindy’s hotel every day to wait for her and Emilie.
Every time he brought something different, he firmly believed that there would always be something they liked.
Every time Cindy would refuse, but Emilie’s attitude towards him began to waver.
“Mom, Uncle is here again,” Emilie exclaimed excitedly as she saw Colt holding a huge teddy bear. “That bear is even bigger than Mom.”
“Um,” Cindy responded nonchalantly.
Colt walked over and placed the teddy bear in front, “Cindy, Emilie, good morning.”
“Good morning, Uncle. Is this for me?” Emilie touched the furry bear and couldn’t let go of it.
“Of course, there are also many gifts inside, all of which are given to Emilie by Dad,” Colt smiled. “Can I invite Emilie to go to the amusement park? There is a panda exhibition today, does Emilie want to see it?”
Emilie looked at Cindy and said, “Mom, can I go?”
“Did Emilie want to go?”
“Um.”
“Okay,” Cindy nodded, “Mr. Nolan, can I still trust you?”
“What does that mean…” Colt paused..
Today I had a meeting to attend, so I couldn’t accompany Emilie. I hope you won’t leave her behind again,” Cindy said earnestly, as she didn’t want Emilie to get hurt anymore.
“Sorry,” Colt lowered his gaze and apologized, “I swear, I will never leave Emilie again.”
“Emilie, take care of yourself, call Mom if you need anything, or just call the police directly.”
Colt felt a pang of pain, as if there was a stone pressing on his chest. “Don’t worry, I will take good care of Emilie this time.”
“Thank you then.”
Cindy watched as Emilie and Colt got into the car, and she sent Emilie a text message, asking her to take care of herself.
Emilie sat in Colt’s car, replying to Cindy’s message through her watch.
“Mom, don’t worry, I believe Uncle won’t abandon me again.” As long as she doesn’t call him dad, he won’t get angry.
“Emilie, I’m sorry.”
“Uncle, stop apologizing all the time. One apology is enough. Even if you say it ten thousand times, it won’t make a difference if the other person doesn’t accept it.”
After hearing Emilie’s words, Colt fell silent.
Emilie was right, his mistakes couldn’t be rectified with just a simple apology.
They didn’t forgive him, no matter how many times he said sorry.
He would prove with actions that he really knew he was wrong.
Colt took Emilie to the amusement park for the first time. He bought balloons, cotton candy, and he cream for Emille.
Emilie laughed from morning till night as she rode the roller coaster and carousel with her.
On the way back to the hotel, she was so tired that she fell asleep.
Cindy was waiting for Emilie in the lobby, watching Colt holding the sleeping Emilie, and had a
moment of daze.
It seemed as if everything before my eyes was fake.
Emilie got tired from playing and fell asleep after dinner.”
“Thank you for giving me the child,” Cindy said, withdrawing her thoughts and adopting a distant
attitude.
Colt dodged her hand and said, “Let me take her upstairs, I’m afraid she might wake up.
Cindy did not persist and took Colt back to the room.
Colt gently placed Emilie on the bed, carefully removing her shoes and covering her with a blanket.
Cindy felt heartbroken.
Did he learn all these skills when taking care of Allan?
He really was trying to be a good father to Allan.
Hazel heard about the situation, if it wasn’t for Hazel’s mistake, they would have been married by
snow.
