Chapter 2
Cindy watched Emilie enter the kindergarten and then turned around to go to the law firm.
She took out the Divorce Settlement drafted by Colt and asked if it was valid.
Colt married her back then with conditions, he could file for divorce at any time, and she couldn’t
refuse.
This agreement was prepared before marriage, with no date indicated on it, only Colt’s signature.
Once the agreement was confirmed to be valid, she signed her name and entrusted the lawyer to
handle her divorce.
“Could you please directly send the divorce certificate to this address when the time comes?” Cindy
eft the address of the villa and got up to leave.
Her nose felt sour, and she tilted her head back to prevent the tears from flowing.
She loved Colt, and after marriage, she had also tried and dreamed.
But after being ignored and neglected time and time again, her once passionate heart gradually
cooled down.
Hazel came back, and she had to leave.
Unfortunately, after finishing her errands, Cindy saw Colt and Hazel in the lobby on the ground
floor of the mall.
Hazel was very beautiful, exuding a sense of boldness and wild beauty. She was holding Colt’s arm,
with a radiant smile on her face.
Colt held her son in one hand, with a look of doting in her eyes.
Cindy’s breath caught for a moment. At some point in the past, she had also fantasized about Colt
taking her and Emilie shopping.
Tears uncontrollably streamed down as she stared at them, her heart aching relentlessly.
She struggled to move her feet and walked away.
Back at the villa, she prepared a job application with her portfolio and sent it to several desired companies, including Aelbarrow.
Afterwards, she printed her resignation letter and took it directly to the company.
After marrying Colt, he transferred her away from his side. Now she is just an ordinary employee in
the Secretariat Office.
The resignation procedures were very simple.

Finish up the current tasks and be ready to resign at any time.
She returned to the office from the personnel department and began organizing her belongings.
Before long, she heard footsteps and compliments coming from the door.
Cindy looked up and saw several executives surrounding Colt and Hazel as they walked in.
Hazel changed her clothes, unlike before when she was flamboyantly sexy. Now, Hazel’s attire was professional and capable, attracting everyone’s attention as soon as she appeared.
Colt’s arm was half raised, protecting her waist, his gaze glued to her, unwilling to move away for
even a moment.
Cindy’s heart ached as she looked at Colt, who remained indifferent. She lowered her gaze.
In the next moment, they had already walked up to her. “Cindy, this is Ms. Swanson, Mr. Nolan’s girlfriend. Your job will be taken over by her. You are being transferred to the Sales Department. Please ensure a smooth handover as soon as possible.‘
Mr. Nolan’s girlfriend?
Colt did not deny.
Cindy’s eyes welled up with sourness, and she clenched her fists tightly. Colt couldn’t wait to have
Hazel back in place, without caring at all about her and Emilie’s feelings.
Cindy looked at Colt again and said, “Colt…”
Without waiting for her to finish, he warned her with a cold gaze.
“Ms. Benton, if you have any complaints about the job transfer, you can talk to your immediate supervisor,” he frowned, not wanting her to mention their relationship.
“She was more suitable for this position,” Colt added.
Cindy understood in her heart that he was referring to more than just work.
Cindy felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she pretended to remain calm on her face. He indeed didn’t
care about her.
“Okay,” Cindy nodded and shook hands with Hazel.
Colt was satisfied and looked back at Hazel, the coldness in his eyes replaced by tenderness.
They had never seen this kind of gaze before, she and Emilie.
Love and non–love used to be so obvious.
Fortunately, she had long ceased to expect.

The company organized a last–minute team building event in the evening and held a welcome dinner for Hazel. Cindy had already resigned and didn’t want to go, but she was persuaded by Hazel
“Ms. Benton, were you angry that I took your job, so you didn’t want to attend my welcome party? I never intended to take anything away, it was all arranged by Colt.”
“I just started my job today and I really hope to communicate with you more. I don’t know many colleagues, can you accompany me?”
Cindy looked at her puzzled gaze, smiled slightly, and shook her head in denial, “You’re thinking too much, I was just going to pick up my daughter, sorry.”
“Where is your husband? Can you ask him to pick up the children?”
Her husband?
“I had no husband,” Cindy said with a faint expression, feeling extremely bitter in her heart.
Colt never admitted to being her husband, their lives were fragmented.
There was no difference between having and not having.
“Sorry, I didn’t know,” Hazel apologized, persistently insisting that she attend the banquet. “Why
not bring your daughter along? My son will also be there, and they can play together as they are the
same age.”
“No, my daughter didn’t like this kind of occasion.”
In the midst of the conversation, a small figure ran towards Cindy.
“Mom, today Uncle picked me up from school,” Emilie exclaimed, rushing into Cindy’s arms, her
voice filled with joy. “He even brought me to find you.”
Cindy was startled. Colt didn’t even know which kindergarten Emilie was in, so how could he
suddenly go pick her up?
She looked up and saw Colt walking towards her from a distance, his eyes filled with a smile, and he
kept looking at Hazel, not even sparing her a glance.
“Colt, do you know Ms. Benton’s child?” Hazel looked puzzled.
“I met her when I was with Allan, so I brought her over. She is Cindy’s daughter and has been to the
company a few times,” Colt explained, afraid that she might misunderstand.
When he mentioned Emilie and Cindy, his tone was distant.
Just like strangers, afraid to have any connection with them.
Emilie wanted to call him.

Cindy glanced at Emilie and shook her head slightly, and she sadly lowered her gaze.
“So, you didn’t know, huh? This girl doesn’t have a father. Maybe we shouldn’t transfer Ms. Benton to the Marketing Department after all, it’s not easy for a single parent to raise a child.”
Colt furrowed his brows slightly, glanced at Cindy, and then said, “Alright, you decide.”
Hazel smiled with joy and nodded gently at him.
The two people exchanged glances, oblivious to their surroundings.
Emilie grabbed Cindy’s clothes and buried her head in her lap.
“Mom, Colt,” Allan’s voice interrupted their meaningful exchange.
He took three steps and then two more, and directly hugged Colt’s leg, saying “Colt, hug.”
