Chapter 2
After taking a shower, Katrina brought a plate of snacks and said, “Juliana, try this. It was made with the freshest ingredients.”
When I heard “fresh ingredients,” scenes of eating moldy food in prison came to mind, and from that moment on, I developed a shadow over food, feeling disgusted at the mere sight of it.
“Juliana, don’t you like it? This was the best one I have ever done.”
Zavier saw that I hadn’t eaten and instantly flew into a rage.
“Juliana, don’t be shameless. Katrina giving you snacks means she respects you. Don’t be ungrateful.”
was not picky, as the days in prison had long worn down my temper.
“I didn’t like eating sweets,” I said casually.
“You stop talking nonsense. How could I not know that you don’t like it? You are deliberately picking a fight, aren’t you? Are you resenting me, right?”
Zavier pulled my hand and the snacks fell to the ground.
I did not speak; I learned silence in prison.
He saw that I did not respond, and he had nowhere to vent his anger.
At this moment, my stomach rumbled inappropriately. Since being released from prison until now, I hadn’t eaten anything and was already famished..
Lena frowned and said, “Juliana, we thought you had already eaten outside, so we didn’t save any food for you. There are some leftovers in the kitchen, you can make do with that.”
The nanny brought out mashed potatoes and a plate of leftover dishes that were unrecognizable and placed them on the table.
Seeing the mashed potatoes, I was reminded of the mashed potatoes I ate in prison, which were mixed with sand and dirt. Tears couldn’t help but swirl in my eyes.
But at that moment, I couldn’t care less and started devouring it.
Zavier looked at me with a disgusted expression on his face and said, “Juliana, see if you still have a bit of the demeanor of a proper lady.”
From the moment he sent me to prison, I ceased to be a respectable lady and became a burdened with a criminal charge.
person
he identity of being a young lady cannot fill the stomach, now I just want to live well, nothing else
matters.
A large amount of food suddenly surged into my stomach, and a sharp pain struck me. I rushed into the bathroom and started vomiting.
“Disgusting,” Katrina said with disgust.
She had never experienced the darkness of prison, so she wouldn’t understand my current longing
for a normal life.
Everything she is enjoying now should have been mine. After vomiting, my stomach still ached unbearably. I don’t know when this stomachache started, but when it hurts badly, I can only grit my
teeth and endure it.
After finishing my meal, I wanted to go upstairs to my room, but I was stopped by Katrina.
Lena handed me a document and said, “Juliana, your current identity doesn’t match with Zavier
anymore. He is the CEO of the company, while you have a criminal record. This is a divorce agreement, sign it, and we will help you if you face any difficulties in the future.”
They took away everything from me, and now they want me to disappear completely.
Since I was released from prison until now, no one has truly cared about me, even though I was the real victim.
Zavier looked at the documents and said, “I did not agree to the divorce.”
Lena and Katrina looked at him in surprise.
“My position in the company was still unstable, so getting a divorce now would be troublesome.”
I laughed at myself self–deprecatingly, after all, I was too naive to think that Zavier had even the slightest bit of affection for me, or that he would feel any guilt. They only cared about their own interests.
I felt as if my body had been drained, and I turned and walked towards the room.
Katrina called out to me, “Juliana, your room is downstairs.”
She pointed to the small room in the corner that had been used to store miscellaneous items.
This house was given to me by my father, and my name is on the property deed.
But after I was imprisoned, Zavier became the master here. Now, I don’t even have my own room.
But for me now, having a place to stay is enough, as long as I can start over, I can endure anything.
The room was very small and cluttered with miscellaneous items.
My things were thrown in the corner, covered in dust.
