Chapter 5
When I woke up, I heard the doctor say, “Are you a family member of the patient? The patient’s condition is very bad, with multiple organ damage, many old injuries, severe malnutrition, and a very poor physical foundation.”
Zavier’s voice came from outside the door, “How is that possible? Her health has always been fine. Did you make a mistake? What did she give you in return?”
The doctor wanted to explain, but Zavier answered a phone call and left.
The light in the ward stabbed my eyes, causing them to ache. In a daze, I recalled the scene of the
first time I saw Zavier.
At that time, I had just started college and I saw him at home delivering documents to my father. He had just graduated from college and was full of vitality.
Father appreciated him very much and often took him on various occasions.
Gradually, the number of times he appeared in front of me increased.
One winter, I had my period and caught a cold with a fever. My father was on a business trip abroad,
and the nanny also took a leave.
I was alone at home, feeling drowsy and lethargic.
When Zavier came to pick up the documents, he found me sick. He took me to the hospital and stayed with me all night.
In the morning, I woke up and saw the oatmeal he had bought placed by the bedside. From that moment on, our relationship gradually grew closer.
I thought I had found someone to spend my life with, but I never expected it to turn out like this.
When I woke up, the nurse was giving me an IV drip.
Seeing me wake up, he asked, “How long has it been since you had a medical check–up? Your health condition is very poor. What about your family?”
I am alone now, without any family.

The nurse saw that I didn’t speak and stopped asking further questions, then she walked out
ward.
When the doctor made his rounds, he told me that I was already in the advanced stage of stomach
cancer and that if I wanted treatment, early intervention was necessary.
When I first heard this news after being released from prison, I might have been panicked and unable to accept it.
But now, there are no people in this world that I long for.
Although I didn’t have much time left, I wanted to fully experience this world in my final days.
After being discharged from the hospital, I got into the habit of exercising early in the morning. Today, while having breakfast outside, I ran into Zavier.

He saw me and walked over aggressively.
“Juliana, what do you mean? Do you think you can just dismiss me with a divorce agreement?” He waved the document in his hand.
I walked around him and took out the key to open the door.
He looked at me, ignored him, and his temper suddenly exploded.
“Juliana, speak up! What do you want, after all?” He grabbed my arm..
“You hurt Katrina, and I haven’t confronted you yet, and now you’re playing hide and seek, Juliana, you’re being too much.”
I broke free from his grasp.
“I did not go too far, I was serious, let’s get divorced.”
“Juliana, it was you who insisted on marrying me in the first place, and now that you’ve had enough fun, you want to leave me? Let me tell you, this marriage is not something you can just end.
whenever you want. This is what you owe me.”
Upon hearing these words, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Zavier, I didn’t owe you anything. It was your own choice to marry me in the first place, and on our wedding day, you abandoned me, making me a laughingstock. It was you who forced me to take the
blame for Katrina, and you promised to take care of my father, but did you fulfill that promise? No you didn’t.”
Finally, I said all the things that were on my mind, and I felt much relieved.
A gust of wind blew by, feeling cool on my face. I reached out and touched it, and it was full of tears.
Zavier paused for a moment.
“Juliana, you’re talking nonsense. If it weren’t for your father using his power to threaten me, I wouldn’t have left Katrina, causing the situation we have today. Everyone is responsible.”
I didn’t expect my father to be misunderstood by him like this.

didn’t want to get entangled with him anymore. I didn’t have much time left and didn’t want to
waste it on him.
Zavier looked at me, just about to speak when the phone rang-
Zavier, I accidentally got my wound wet and it hurts a lot. Can you come and accompany me to the hospital?”
“You wait at home; I will come over immediately.”
I pushed open the door and entered the room.
Zavier looked at me deeply and said, “Juliana, I will not leave this marriage, so give upon that
idea.”
After saying that, he tore up the divorce agreement and walked away.
