Chapter 7
since then, he came to the hospital every day to accompany me, and he would bring me a bouquet of lilies and place it by my bedside.
But I remained indifferent to him, the past hurts like deep ravines, lying between us, impossible to
cross.
My body became weaker and weaker, and I ate less and less. Every meal felt like torture, with my stomach churning and after eating, I would vomit.
Zavier tried various ways to cook for me, attempting to make me eat more, but everything was in
vain.
Finally, after another bout of vomiting, I couldn’t help but say to him, “Zavier, you don’t have to do this, you have your own life, there’s no need to waste your time with me.”
Zavier silently cleaned up the vomit on the floor and said, “Now, you were the most important person to me.”
Upon hearing this, I couldn’t help but bitterly smile and say, “Zavier, isn’t it all thanks to you that I have become the way I am today? Now you’re pretending to be sentimental? Don’t you find it ridiculous?”
Zavier hurriedly explained, “No, I…”
od didn’t…
I interrupted him to listen to his confession anymore. Those words seemed so pale and powerless at that moment.
“What is it not? Is it not you abandoning me at the wedding? Is it not you threatening me with my father? Is it not you who personally sent me to prison? All of this was caused by you, so what’s the use of regretting now?”
This is the most I have ever said to him since I was hospitalized, every word filled with years of pain and resentment.
Zavier fell silent, knowing that it was all his fault, and the current situation was entirely of his making.
He walked out of the ward desolately, his figure appearing so lonely and helpless.
I thought he wouldn’t come back again, but I’didn’t expect another unexpected guest, Katrina, to arrive in the ward.
“Juliana, I never expected you to be so miserable now. This is your retribution.”
Katrina entered the room and immediately started mocking and taunting.
I didn’t want to see her. Her presence would only make me more miserable.
“You are not welcome here, please leave,” I pointed towards the door, my voice weak but resolute.
“Don’t be in a hurry, don’t you want to know why you took the blame back then?” Katrina provocatively looked at me.
I looked at her in confusion, back then Zavier only used his father to threaten me, but he never t told
me the reason.
Katrina smirked triumphantly and said, “Back then, there was actually no embezzlement of public funds at all. It was me who framed you. I had someone forge evidence just to make you disappear, to make you lose everything. Who allowed you to steal Zavier? You didn’t deserve to have him at all!”
Upon hearing her words, the anger in my heart instantly ignited. Ignoring my physical weakness, I struggled to get out of bed and rushed towards her, grabbing her collar and shouting, “Katrina, you vicked woman! Our family has never wronged you, why would you do this?”
Katrina struggled to free herself from my grip and grabbed my wrist in return. “Your family didn’t offend me, but you took Zavier away. That’s your fault! Your father’s death is also because of you. If it wasn’t for you, how could he have died?”
I couldn’t control myself anymore and slapped her with all my strength.
Katrina, infuriated, raised her hand to strike back, but was tightly held back by a force.
Zavier appeared at some point; his face was terrifyingly gloomy.
“Katrina, what do you have to explain?” Zavier’s voice was icy and piercing.
Katrina
saw Zavier and a hint of panic flashed in her eyes. “Zavier, I did all this because I loved you, I wanted to be with you.”
Zavier shook off her hand, “Is your love about hurting others? Your kind of love is terrifying. Go explain yourself to the police.”
Katrina, seeing Zavier so determined, no longer pretended and burst out cursing, “Zavier, you heartless man! It was you who provoked me in the first place, and now you want to abandon me curse you to never find happiness!”
