Chapter 6
After that day, Colt never returned home.
Cindy and Emilie tacitly agreed not to mention him again.
As Emilie’s birthday was approaching, Cindy and Emilie prepared invitation cards to give to their classmates at school.
Emilie happily told her that all the invited classmates had agreed.
Two days before her birthday, Cindy met Colt and Hazel at school.
Allan stood among them, bowing his head and crying.
Colt and Hazel comforted him.
Allan made a mistake, and Colt was called to the school as a parent.
Cindy found this scene ironic as Colt had never taken care of Emilie before.
But he tried hard to play the role of a good father to someone else’s son.
This is the “love me, love my dog” principle.
Cindy averted her gaze and looked at Emilie walking out of the classroom.
Emilie walked past Colt, paused for a moment, and greeted, “Uncle, Aunt.”
Colt noticed and glanced at her.
“Ms. Benton, you came to pick up the children,” Hazel greeted Cindy warmly when she saw her.
Cindy nodded, “Hmm.”
“I envy you so much. Your daughter is so well–behaved, unlike my son who always causes trouble, Hazel complained. “We are both children without fathers, how did you manage to raise your chi
so well?”
Cindy remained silent, and Emilie spoke up first, looking at Colt. “Didn’t he have a father? Just let
his father take care of him properly.”
Colt felt guilty and dared not make eye contact with Emilie.
“Baby, don’t talk nonsense. Auntie and him are just friends…” Hazel blushed.
Emilie’s eyes turned red, unwilling to listen, she spoke to them to bid farewell.
Goodbye uncle, goodbye aunt.”
Emilie led Cindy away.

Cindy felt Colt looking at her, and he continued to watch her until he walked away.
Colt, you had one last chance.
That evening, Colt returned home.
Emilie was in a bad mood, and Cindy had been accompanying her to draw. When they heard the
sound of the door opening, they both looked over.
“Uncle.”
“Welcome back,” they greeted proactively.
Colt nodded indifferently and handed the gift box to Emilie.
‘From me?” Emilie was surprised. This was the second time she had received a gift from Colt.
“Um.”
“Thank you, uncle.”
Emilie couldn’t contain her excitement and opened the gift box.
There was a small car made of Lego inside.
Cindy frowned. She had seen it on Hazel’s Instagram, and it was one of the many gifts that Colt had
given to Allan.
It was not wanted by Allan.
“Teach the child well and stop talking nonsense in the future,” Colt scolded Cindy. “Don’t hang
around Hazel for no reason.”
He came back to warn her.
Worried about what she said to Hazel that she shouldn’t have said.
Cindy sneered, “Fine.”
“Is there anything else?” Cindy asked as she noticed Colt’s stillness.
Colt looked at her and said, “Let Emilie change kindergarten, she can choose wherever she wants to
go, I will have someone help with the enrollment process.”
Cindy’s heart skipped a beat.
Was he doing this to prevent any future troubles?
Her heart ached as she glanced at Emilie, who had her head down and tears had already fallen onto
the car.

Okay.” Cindy knew that refusing was pointless.
Colt achieved his goal and prepared to leave.
Emilie suddenly got up and ran to his side.
“Uncle, the day after tomorrow is my birthday, can you please accompany me to celebrate? Just this
once.” Emilie mustered up her courage, tears evident on her face.
Cindy felt sorry, turned her head away, unable to look at Emilie.
Colt remained silent.
Emilie kept looking up, waiting for his answer.
