Chapter 7
“Don’t joke with me anymore.
“I was very serious.”
Only a fool would believe that.
I pushed him away, “My father is no longer here, I have no value to be used anymore.”
He was somewhat helpless and said, “I like you,
you, what does it have to do with your dad?”
I looked at him in confusion and asked, “Didn’t you pursue me in the first place for the resources my dad had?”
He was both angry and amused, and he reached out and flicked my forehead, saying, “Noemi, how is your imagination so rich?”
First, the Watts family’s business did not overlap with your father’s resources. Second, I disdain
using money to measure emotions.
I genuinely liked you before. But since you told me that your heart was completely with Antoine, I couldn’t bring myself to cling to someone unwillingly.
“Now that you have broken up with him, why can’t I fight for myself?”
I admit, I was a little surprised.
I couldn’t understand why I had anything worth liking for him.
Forget it, let’s not think about it.
I had a twisted relationship with Antoine, so it’s better not to drag others down with us anymore.
Antoine had left earlier, and I returned to the bridal shop.
Tessa finally tried on the wedding dress, she liked the style, but the waist didn’t fit well and needed
alterations.
She bossed me around, saying, “Noemi, don’t come next week to help me pick up my wedding dress.”
They really took me for a babysitter.
I nodded and said, “Okay.”
Unfortunately, Tessa had bad luck, and in the end, she couldn’t wear that wedding dress to marry Antoine.
Because the day before we were going to pick up the wedding dress, both of us were kidnapped at
the same time.
It is not surprising that Antoine had a few enemies over the years, as he was ruthless in his
dealings.
Tessa was so scared that she cried and screamed. The kidnapper slapped her, causing half of her
face to immediately swell up.
Joe Reese finished playing against Tessa and turned to me, saying, “No wonder you’re Mr. Oneal’s
daughter, you’ve got courage.”
I survived being locked in a dungeon by Antoine for a month, can Joe be as terrifying as Antoine?
I was once again slapped in the face.
Joe was just a lunatic.
He was bankrupted by Antoine and didn’t want to live anymore. He planned to find someone to back
him up.
This was an abandoned factory.
Joe tied me and Tessa up on the third floor and made Antoine choose one.
The one selected went with Antoine, while the remaining one stayed with him until death.
Tessa and I were in a very dangerous position, if Joe pushed us hard, we would both fall down.
Tessa cried out desperately, “Antoine, save me, I don’t want to die.”
Antoine stood on the open ground and gently reassured her, “Tessa, don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Then, with a gloomy face, he shouted at Joe, “If you dare to harm Tessa and the child in her belly, I
will make sure you suffer a painful death!”
Joe burst into laughter after hearing it, “So this is your sweetheart, huh? Noemi, he doesn’t even look at you, nor does he ask you a single question. Your dad has nurtured him for so many years only to raise a wolf in sheep’s clothing!”
From the moment Antoine walked into the factory, his gaze never once landed on me.
At the most critical moment, he chose to abandon me.
And I, surprisingly, did not feel very heartbroken, I even felt relieved.
I just have to apologize to Dawson in the end.
Antoine shouted sternly, “Joe, stop talking nonsense and release Tessa immediately!”
Joe’s face changed suddenly, and then he said in a strange
tone, “Alright, I will release her now. You
better be ready!”
Upon finishing his words, he actually pushed Tessa down.
A piercing cry cut through the sky, followed by a loud thud.
I trembled all over, my heart was pounding, and I couldn’t even dare to look down.
I heard Antoine’s shout, “Tessa–”
Joe was still laughing loudly in my ear, “Antoine, how do you like the wedding gift I gave you?”
Just as he was getting carried away with his pride, someone grabbed him by the neck from behind.
Zion Stein and Bryson Hooper were often by Antoine’s side.
guessed that Antoine must have had a backup plan, he would never be foolish enough to go to the appointment alone.
Zion dragged Joe to the side.
Bryson reached out and carried me to a safe area, helping me untie the rope.
I was filled with fear, “Will she die?”
Bryson replied succinctly, “I don’t know.”
Zion shouted at him, “Bryson, what are you dawdling for? Have you forgotten how Antoine instructed us?”
Bryson extended his arm to me, gesturing for me to place my hand on it. “Ms. Oneal, let me take you back first. Antoine will handle things here.”
I took a step. My legs were so weak.
I thought I was not afraid of death anymore, but just now, Tessa’s scream was so terrifying that it made my heart pound.
