Alan also changed his expression and asked, “Have you ever thought about going abroad?”
I shook my head and said, “I have lived in Dragoncity since I was young, so I am used to it.”
Moreover, Antoine would not let me go.
Alan lit a cigarette and, amidst the hazy smoke, furrowed his brow as he said, “Antoine’s ambitions have grown even bigger. Do you know what business he went to discuss in Springford this time?”
I shook my head again, “He never talks about business matters in front of me.”
Alan’s brow furrowed even more tightly, and he said four words to me.
My heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Alan added, “Not to mention whether or not he will be targeted by the police, do you think the gang
in Springford can tolerate Antoine messing with their business?”
Noemi, you were not safe by his side.
I heard that Tessa jumped off the building, and he didn’t even go to take a look. Tessa was carrying
his child, and he could be so heartless.
At most, you were just his ex–girlfriend, how long can your dad’s face last with him?
Moreover, he had even considered swapping land with you, although he eventually backed out. But
what if there is a second time?
“Even when it came to a head, could he still care about you?”
Antoine was very efficient and rarely left any evidence, so no one outside knew that my father’s
death was related to him.
In the eyes of others, I, his ex–girlfriend, although breaking up with him, could still be consider as his acquaintance, mainly because of my father.
Alan let out a sigh and said, “I know you don’t like me, and I don’t intend to force anything, but I genuinely hope you’re doing well.”

Mentioning Dawson, I finally felt a slight flutter in my heart.
dan is not aware that I was coerced by Antoine. If he finds out, will he completely break ties with Antoine for my sake?
Even if he was willing to take risks for me, Antoine would never let him off easily.
This was simply a deadlock.
The new shoes I wore, I ran all day and my heels got blistered.
When we were coming down the mountain, Alan noticed that I was limping. He walked up to me and squatted down, saying, “Come on, I’ll carry you.”
Of course, I refused, “No need, I can walk by myself.”
He teased, “What, afraid that I’ll take advantage of you? Don’t worry, I’m not that kind of person.”
“No, I was afraid of tiring you out.”
“I’m quite tired from squatting now,” he sighed, “I’ve never carried a woman in my life. Can you give me a chance, please?”
He insisted repeatedly, so I stopped refusing.
His back was broad, and I wrapped my hands around his neck, catching a faint scent of citrus on him. I inexplicably felt my heart calm down.
“Alan,” I called out to him softly.
“Hmm?” he turned his head and asked, “What’s wrong?

“Nothing.” I don’t know why I suddenly wanted to call his name,

“Um,” he softly responded to me, “I’m here.”
His voice was very pleasant, like feathers brushing against the tip of my heart.
I couldn’t help but curl my lips and unconsciously rest my head on his shoulder.
After walking quietly for a while, I asked him, “Alan, are you tired?”
“I would carry you on my back for a lifetime without getting tired.”
“Is it a piece of cake for you to coax girls?”
“No, you were the only one.”
“I don’t believe it at all. They say you have experienced everything in the world.”
He sighed, “Heavens above, I have only had two girlfriends in total. I own an entertainment company with so many actresses, being the boss, it is inevitable to have contact with them. Those people outside spread rumors and tarnished my reputation!”
carefully recalled that although there were quite a few rumors about him, most of them were baseless and I had indeed never seen any evidence of him being involved with any celebrity.

I couldn’t help but sigh, “Well, you were quite miserable.”
He sighed and said, “Isn’t that right? You know I’ve had a hard time, so don’t always believe those trivial rumors in the future. If you want to understand me, just come and ask me directly. I promise to tell you everything, without holding anything back.”
I was indeed a little curious, so I thought for a moment and asked, “Why do you like me?”
