Chapter 14
After half a month, when I saw Alan again, he seemed a bit haggard, not as spirited as before.
His gaze fell on my neck, but only for a moment before he lost his soul and moved his eyes away.
His smile, even at the corner of his lips, was bitter. “I heard Antoine say that you two are getting married.”
Marriage?
How funny it was.
I, as the person involved, did not even know that I was going to get married.
Antoine squeezed my hand tightly, and I understood his message. I forced a smile and said,
Alan’s eyes dimmed, “Congratulations.”
He handed over a black velvet box, “Here’s your wedding gift.”
I opened it and saw a pair of earrings in the shape of fireworks, studded with diamonds.
It was dazzling and really beautiful.
Unfortunately, I could not stay in the end.
I resisted the urge to burst into tears and said, “Thank you.”
He looked at me deeply and said in a hoarse voice, “You’re welcome.”
I lowered my gaze and didn’t dare to look at him.
“Yes.”
Antoine chuckled and said, “Thank you for Mr. Watts‘ gift. I wonder if Mr. Watts would honor us with his presence at my and Noemi’s wedding.”
Alan’s fingers on the desktop curled up involuntarily, and he smiled bitterly, saying, “Of course . had to attend.”
During the meal, I went to the restroom.
When he came out, Alan was leaning against the wall, smoking with a desolate expression.
I softly advised him, “Smoke less in the future, it’s not good for your health.”
He pressed the cigarette butt onto the trash can and said, “Okay, I won’t smoke anymore.”
After a brief pause, he asked me, “Noemi, are you truly happy?”
suppressed the strange emotions churning inside me and nodded gently, “Hmm, I was very happy.”

His voice was hoarse, “If one day you feel unhappy, just turn around, I will be there.”
There was a moment when I could hardly restrain myself, wanting to ask him, Alan, can you take me away, please take me away, okay?
But I couldn’t, I couldn’t be so selfish. How could I drag him into this endless abyss?
In the end, I could only heartlessly reject him, “Don’t wait for me, there are so many good girls out there, you will surely meet someone you like again.”
I also wish you happiness.
As soon as Antoine got home, he reached out his hand to me and said, “Give it to me.”
I pretended not to know, “What?”
He sneered, “Don’t play dumb with me, Earring.”
“Is it that I didn’t have the right to own just a pair of earrings?”
“Are you reluctant to part with this earring, or are you reluctant to let go of Alan?”
He was always so aggressive.
I attempted to resist, but he swiftly snatched the box, took out the earring, opened the window, and threw it away directly.
Why didn’t you give me any thoughts at all?
I looked at the lonely night scene outside the window and couldn’t help but shed tears in the end.
Antoine pinched my chin displeasingly and said, “This is the last time, Noemi. Don’t let me see you cry for another man again. I don’t like it.”
Not even crying was allowed. “Understood.”
His expression gradually softened, “Noemi, be a good girl, and I will treat you well like before.
The next day, Zion brought a lot of jewelry. “Ms. Oneal, these are all dowries prepared for you Antoine.”
Dowry? Did he really want to marry me?
